A time trial that was not one and for us rather developed as a sightseeing stop-over. Unfortunately, we did not have so much time to enjoy the delicacies from the sea in one of the great fish restaurants, already we had to move on.

This tour is also an organizational and logistical event. Today we all got up at 5 o’clock and at 6:30 sat in the bus for the transfer to Marseille. Dressed accordingly, we were as always, so just find the bike, fill water and go.

My bike had been put back in order, but unfortunately the mechanics had forgotten to screw on my pedals and they were still on the spare wheel and was already on the way to Paris. So it was improvised with the result that I had to jump behind the field again as the last. Now that was not so wild in the city with traffic lights and traffic.

Finally arrived at the sea after so many kilometers, the sight had something.

Some would like to say that we could have saved ourselves, but we drove the Tour de France and this route is part of it. The racers will have to fight next week with 3 things, the wind, incredible 15% slope up to the church and a dangerous descent, steep down through very tight turns. It doesn’t really make sense to me why organizers plan such routes. Similar to the life-threatening descent from the Col du Munt to Chambery or extra water on the Kitzbühler Streif, so that again one ends up in the hospital. For me, this has nothing to do with sport …

Here the photo from the harbor with the church, the warzeichen of Marseille, in the middle.

Since we were already at 13:06 with the train on to Paris, we decided not to dawdle and sit like the others in the cafes, but quickly lead the track to the end, change, bike and take the metro to the station. Because I was already here in April on my training tour, I still had some locations in memory and knew that we can leave the station towards the city center to find a selection of brasseries. Needless to say, we enjoyed food and drink extensively. I for one am actually hungry all the time and I don’t think I’ve ever drunk so much in my life to still be thirsty.

These are 3 I could build on during the now already 3 weeks, great men, with the character to look at others.

On to Paris, to the last stage, finish the tour and then comes the big party.

Incredibly, I have 3500 km and 41000 meters of altitude across France, with the bike …

Charity

Just got the latest on the fundraiser for the WWMT coming in. A few more companies got involved that didn’t have a cross boarder issue. The total amount has now risen to 335,000 pounds.
