Rest day, my ass, travel day to Perigueux in the run-up to the Pyrenees, the next stage goes from here to beautiful Pau. I’m looking forward to it, this is a beautiful route.
Finally sleep in a bit and only at 7:30 breakfast, pack and then we went already at 8:45 with the bus to the south. Without exception, all use the opportunity to sleep and it took longer than announced of course again and we arrived only at 16:30 in Perigueux and my friends from the island as first crashed the elevator and demanded the hotel management. For this they obviously have no rules.
Here everything is different again, the people are incredibly nice again, the Northern French No has given way to the amiable Oui.
Here are a few quick impressions from Perigueux:
Interview with a rider
Uli came to me 2 more times to find out when it would be broadcast. He had really believed I was from BR, had obviously played my role as Friederich von Turn und Taxis quite well.
There was recently also the Swiss television here, I will try to get more interviews for you.
Statistics
In the bus I had time to build me this table, with values from my Garmin. So we have already covered 1600 km in the first week, so remain for 2 weeks only 1900 km … well then it gets easier 🙂
Bell Weather Cyclist
So, after this week I must admit, I am an absolute fair weather rider. These conditions, which cost enormous energy, I never had on the plan. These road conditions, one drives here already against a resistance on these long overland roads. The rain and the headwind, we usually stay on the sofa. Hey, we are in weather conditions cycled, as no sensible person would even bring his dog outside the door.
Just now
… nice weather is coming. Am times curious how my wet frogs from the island warm conditions away. Recognize without envy how you can be on the road with normal jerseys in the most violent conditions, where I had 4 layers on at the end.
I am now looking forward to 4 stages in this beautiful Pyrenean landscape and great weather.
But now I have to go, there is dinner and food is important. Actually, we do nix other than eating, sleeping and cycling. On that note, here’s to tomorrow in Pau.
🙂
